Interesting Superstitious In The Philippines: Evening Bath (Filipino Funny Komiks)
Superstition Series Episode 7, A Filipino Funny Komiks
In the last episodes, I mentioned Filipino funny komiks superstitious beliefs about sleeping with wet hair. In this episode, let me tell you why most Filipinos don’t take a bath or shower in the evening.
“Evening Bath“

My parents told me never to take a bath immediately after a long and sweaty workout, workday, etc. I don’t exactly know why, but when I was young, I washed after playing all day, and the next thing I knew, I couldn’t walk for a week! (A horrible experience!)
Our family told us that if we take a bath in the evening after a long day of work and stress, we will suffer from “Pasma" or hand tremors, sweaty palms, numbness, and pain. Just like what happened to me when I was in Elementary. It is a Filipino folk illness when cold is trapped inside your body. But just like the wet hair superstition, there is no scientific basis for this alleged illness.
I want to take a bath in the evening because it is freezing to take a bath in the morning, and it is very refreshing to take a shower before sleeping, but since I am still living with my parents, I can’t do that. YET! Hahaha!
What are your thoughts about this? Do you believe that this is the cause of pasma? Do you have the same beliefs in your culture? Let us know in the comment section below. You can also follow us on our social media accounts for more illustrations and updates. See you there!
